Become an Editorial Board Member for Spark
We invite scholars to apply for the Spark editorial board. Spark editorial board members adopt our social justice centric editorial board values to learn from and collaborate with our writers through an open-review process.
Spark is an open-access publication that offers timely and scholarly-informed content. Readers can gain a general level of understanding on historical and current social issues so that they can make informed decisions that affect them, their families and communities. Uniquely positioned at the intersection of academic journals and popular media, Spark’s review process draws from peer-reviewed academic practices and promotes well-informed essays.
Editorial board members review submission and provide guidance and leadership. Responsibilities include:
Editorial board members are often tenured, tenure-track, clinical and research faculty (including lecturers), research staff, or postdoctoral fellows.
Board members serve for two years (August 2025 - August 2027) and receive a $1,200 stipend in two payments. University of Michigan faculty receive a research fund transfer instead of a stipend.
