Research shows that diverse teams foster more innovative solutions, and those from underrepresented groups often engage in interdisciplinary and applied work—crucial for tackling the complex problems facing society today.

Yet efforts to diversify and address historical biases in the scientific community have become a political target which can have critical consequences for innovative scientific research and its applications to protect the lives and future of our society.
