Current Work
As a critical scholar, my research focuses on the elementary schooling experiences of historically marginalized students in the United States with a special focus on Hispanic/Chican@/Mexican populations. I examine the impact of classroom pedagogy on academic achievement and students' perceptions about knowledge and learning. Within this context, I analyze factors such as race and socioeconomic class of students & schools. I use critical race theory and a Marxist analysis of class as theoretical frameworks.
