About
Maura works as a faculty research associate in the School of Public Health-Prevention Insights at Indiana University Bloomington. Dr. Pereira-Leon worked as Senior Researcher and Curriculum Developer for the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute and a Lecturer in the College of Technology at the University of Houston. She was a member of the NSF ADVANCE Evaluation Team from 2016 to 2018 and has extensive domestic and international experience as a program evaluator. She has worked on evaluating multi-year and multi-state federal-funded education and social initiatives in the United States, Brazil, Peru, Portugal, Kenya, and Venezuela. Dr. Pereira-Leon was a faculty with administrative appointments at the Universidad Experimental de la Gran Caracas, Venezuela, and retired as Executive College Director.
Current Work
Maura worked on the NSF ADVANCE grant aimed at increasing the number of minority faculty at the University of Houston. Recently, she published an article on the evaluation of the implementation of workshops to support and engage minority women faculty in the process of applying for tenure and promotion. Dr. Leon is currently a member of the Diversity and Equity Committee at Prevention Insights-School of Public Health, Indiana University Bloomington. Maura conducts research and delivers training on Cultural Competence.
