About
Dr. Earl received her BA in anthropology and BS in psychology from the University of Florida, and her PhD in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is an associate professor in the psychology department at the University of Michigan, and the director of the University of Michigan Health, Attitudes, and Influence Lab (HAILab). Dr. Earl is also a faculty associate at the University of Michigan's Research Center for Group Dynamics, and a faculty affiliate of the Joint Program in Social Work and Psychology.
Current Work
Dr. Earl is currently pursuing projects related to disparities in health outcomes across racial and weight-status groups. In particular, Dr. Earl is examining how targeting information to high risk groups as a function of racial group or weight status impact receptivity to health information, uptake of behavioral recommendations, and source evaluations. In addition, Dr. Earl is investigating how norms about attending to health information impact whether or not target audiences pay attention to messages.
