Dr. Tolentino is a clinician scholar with the National Clinician Scholars Program and a postdoc fellow at the University of Michigan. Previously, he has worked as a clinical informaticist for Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health, the 5th largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the US. He obtained his PhD in nursing from the University of Arizona, MA in education, and BS in nursing from San Francisco State University.
Current Work
Dr. Tolentino is interested in examining and reducing health disparities among Filipino-Americans with type 2 diabetes through user-centered health informatics interventions. He is currently working on several research projects including a scoping review of type 2 diabetes interventions and outcomes in Asian Americans, secondary data analysis on the patterns of digital health ownership, usage, and information-sharing behaviors among Asian Americans, and a qualitative description study on the successful management of Filipino-Americans with type 2 diabetes.
