Beth Glover Reed is a community/clinical psychologist with a joint appointment in the School of Social Work and the Department of Women's Studies at the University of Michigan. She has many years of experience in services research and interdisciplinary basic research, direct practice, teaching, and endeavoring to change knowledge and intervention systems focused on a variety of social justice issues. A major emphasis within this has been on substance abuse/alcohol and other drugs (AOD), mental health (MH), intimate partner violence (IPV) and other stigmatized conditions. She has been involved in coordinating centers for two federally-funded multi-site demonstration projects, and in several more project sites that were part of national demonstration projects. She was the co-founder of FAIRteach, a collaborative of faculty concerned with research and education for social justice education, and has chaired or participated a number of initiatives designed to further social justice, within the School of Social Work and the larger University of Michigan.
Current Work
Developing measures to explore intersectionality and social justice issues in varied community groups and among students; study of innovative programs addressing both intimate partner violence and alcohol/other drugs to identify approaches and problems; and analysis of approaches to teaching justice and diversity and student responses to assessment measures.
