Current Work
Dr. Beatriz Manzor Mitrzyk is a health disparities researcher who focuses on the treatment of mental health illnesses in the Latinx population. Right now, she is working with community members and health care providers from Detroit and Ypsilanti to develop a health education program to improve adherence to antidepressants among Latinx adults with depression or anxiety. The program involves motivational interviewing (a counseling style that uses guidance versus directing) and culturally-tailored (specific to a culture) infographics (information provided in pictures and few words) and will be delivered using telehealth by a clinical pharmacist. The goals of the education program are to increase adherence to antidepressants as well as improvement in depression and anxiety symptoms.
