Ebbin Dotson, PhD, MHSA is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy, the faculty director for the U-M Summer Enrichment Program (UMSEP), and the faculty director for the new Health Equity Leadership Pipeline Collaborative (The Collaborative) at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He is also a 2017-18 Interprofessional Leadership Fellow for the U-M Center on Interprofessional Education. Dr. Dotson's research topics include organizational theory and behavior, health equity, leadership competencies, health professions pipelines, workforce diversity, predictive assessment, health literacy, and community health. In his academic role, he teaches on topics related to the macro-micro management nexus in healthcare organizations. As a researcher, his work focuses on the effective management of the public health infrastructure and healthcare delivery system.
Current Work
Dr. Dotson's current projects focus on each of his US healthcare infrastructural focal dimensions: technology, workforce, and financing. Leadership development projects provide a launchpad to , out mediating and moderating variables of leader quality. He is involved in projects focused on elucidating the financial and quality-related associations between leadership effectiveness and infrastructural components of health system operation. In addition, his pipeline research continues to provide a data-rich environment to identify profiles and trends for workforce and training programs.
