About
Joi Mondisa is an assistant professor in the Industrial & Operations Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. She earned a BS degree in general engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA degree at Governors State University, and an MS degree in industrial engineering and a PhD in engineering education from Purdue University. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked as a professional in the areas of manufacturing, operations, technical sales, and publishing for ten years. During this time, Dr. Mondisa also taught engineering technology courses at Triton College in River Grove, IL for seven years. She is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and co-founder and president of the No Longer Forgotten Network (NLFN), a 501c3 non-profit organization serving renal patients and providing educational opportunities for girls and minorities.
Current Work
Dr. Mondisa's current research projects focus on examining the mentoring practices of underrepresented minority engineering professionals, the social community of academic and social support programs, and the resilience and grit of undergraduate engineering students.
