About
K. Rivet Amico is trained as a counseling psychologist, with interests in work with adolescents, trauma and health. Her work as a research associate professor has focused on prevention and treatment of infectious disease for over a decade. Working with communities and groups at elevated risk for HIV infection in the US, Africa and South America, she has had the privilege of working with local teams to develop, implement and evaluate culturally relevant approaches to supporting the adoption and use of prevention strategies and compassionate delivery of care. Dr. Amico's interests are centered on mobilizing systems of care that optimize engagement through tailored patient-centered approaches in HIV and tuberculosis (TB) care. Positioning prevention and care in the social, political and economic history and present-day realities of marginalized communities is a driving commonality in her research, advocacy and service.
