About
Meral Ugur-Cinar received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the New School for Social Research before joining Bilkent. She is currently Assistant Professor at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. She was selected National Center for Institutional Diversity Exemplary Diversity Scholar (University of Michigan) and Distinguished Young Scientist (the Science Academy, Turkey). She is also the recipient of the Sak?p Sabanc? International Research Award.
Current Work
Meral Ugur-Cinar'a recent work focuses on the following: the role of political narratives in politics, democratic backsliding, gender and politics, populism, and collective memory. Her la, book Memory, Patriarchy and Economy in Turkey: Narratives of Political Power is forthcoming from Edinburgh University Press.
