Dr. Hedegard conducts research on the connections between cultural capital, racial identity, and social networks in the US and Brazil. One current project provides a theoretical explanation of differences in social network size between blacks and whites by drawing from theories of cultural capital and symbolic resources. She also conducts program evaluations to measure outcomes for academic and social service programs.
