Melissa Eriko Poulsen received her PhD in literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2015.
Current Work
Her research focuses on depictions of mixed race in twentieth and twenty-first century US literature and popular culture. She recently completed her dissertation, Figuring Futures: Early Asian American Mixed-Race Literature, which explores representations of Asian American mixed race in literature in the early- to mid-twentieth century. She has published articles in Asian American Literature: Discourses and Pedagogies and in Contemporary Literary Criticism, and is an assistant editor at the Asian American Literary Review (AALR) where she was also the program coordinator of AALR’s mixed race teaching initiative.
