Giorleny Altamirano Rayo is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Politics and Strategy, Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include formal institutions, property rights, and strategies of state building, with a focus on Latin America. Her collaborative work with Vera Kutzisnki and Ottmar Ette include Views of the Cordilleras and Monuments of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas (The University of Chicago Press 2012) and Political Essay on the Island of Cuba (2011).
Current Work
Giorleny's work focuses on ethnic land rights and the implementation of those rights by state elites in the Americas.
