About
Dr. Chidester is a historian and archaeologist with the Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) in Maumee, Ohio. He serves as MSG's principal investigator for cultural resource management projects required under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. He was previously co-director of the Hampden Community Archaeology Project in Baltimore, Maryland from 2005 to 2009. He holds a master's degree in applied anthropology from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in anthropology and history from the University of Michigan.
Current Work
Dr. Chidester’s research interests focus on issues of class, race, structural inequality, and governmentality in urban contexts. He is currently at work on two cultural resource management projects in Detroit that examine these issues within the historic context of urban renewal.
