Dr. Teniell L. Trolian is an associate professor in the department of Educational Policy & Leadership at the University at Albany, State the University of New York. She earned a PhD from the University of Iowa in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies with an emphasis in Higher Education and Student Affairs, an MA from the University of Iowa in Sociology, an MA from Bowling Green State University in College Student Personnel, and a BA in Sociology from The Ohio State University.
Current Work
Dr. Trolian's scholarship focuses on the educational experiences that influence learning and outcomes for students in Higher Education. Her research emphasizes two primary areas: (1) Higher Education experiences that contribute to college learning and outcomes, including classroom experiences and exposure to good teaching practices, interactions and experiences with faculty, experiences with applied and experiential learning, experiences with diversity, and out-of-class experiences; and (2) K-12 educational experiences that influence students' college choice decisions and experiences in Higher Education. She employs sociological and college impact frameworks to examine relationships between educational experiences and outcomes, and her methodological approaches are primarily quantitative, using large-scale, multi-institutional survey data to examine research questions.
