Liane I. Hypolite (she/her/hers) is an assistant professor of educational leadership at Cal Poly Pomona where she supports education professionals with advancing equity as they pursue their doctoral degrees. Prior to this role, Liane did college access and success work for over a decade, advising students across Boston through the education non-profit Bottom Line as well as through serving as the dean of College and Career Advising at Codman Academy Charter Public School. Liane earned a BA in sociology and Psychology at Brandeis University, her Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her PhD from the University of Southern California.
Current Work
Liane conducts research that explores how high schools and colleges can expand opportunity for racially and economically minoritized students using qualitative and mixed methodologies. Her most recent projects explore how high school teachers define and make sense of the term "People of Color" and how their perceptions relate to possibilities for coalition building across racial/ethnic groups. Liane is also working with public, rural university leadership on a college campus to create systemic approaches to advancing at-promise student success.
