Current Work
As a critical qualitative scholar, my research centers on issues of equity and inclusion in higher education investigating the systemic and institutional forms of oppression that impact students who hold minoritized identities. My research answers one central question: What are the stories of students, faculty, and staff whom colleges and universities were not designed to serve? Primarily, my scholarship addresses three major research strands: 1) equity and justice for Black students and professionals in Higher Education, 2) first-generation student experiences through a critical race and asset-based lens, and, 3) the use of culturally-relevant qualitative research methods in higher education inquiry. I seek to educate higher education scholars and practitioners about the inimitable experiences of minoritized students, faculty, and staff situated within historically white institutions.
