About
Dr. James is a postdoctoral research fellow in the department of Family Medicine, jointly appointed in the Center for Disability Health and Wellness and the Michigan Mixed Methods Program. Methodologically, he is interested in the integration of rigorous statistical methods - including time-varying effects modeling and mixture modeling - in mixed methods studies. Dr. James's substantive expertise is in health education/health promotion and health services research, with a particular interest in healthcare access and service delivery among people with disabilities. His community-engaged work with the deaf community has been funded by the Society for Public Health Education and the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
Current Work
Dr. James works with community members, reseachers, and medical providers to understand how to improve healthcare access and health outcomes for people with disabilities. I approach my work with the intention to promote social justice for people with disabilities by understanding how ableism manifests in healthcare settings.
