Sarah Mayorga is an associate professor of sociology at Brandeis University. She earned her PhD in sociology from Duke University, and is the author of Behind the White Picket Fence: Power and Privilege in a Multiethnic Neighborhood, which won the Distinguished Contribution to Research Book Award from the American Sociological Association's Latino/a Sociology Section in 2015.
Current Work
Sarah Mayorga publishes on racial and ethnic inequality, multiracial neighborhoods, Latinx migration, and whiteness. She is currently working on a book project on two working-class neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Ohio — one of the neighborhoods is predominantly white and the other is multiracial. She is interested in how the gentrification of a downtown neighborhood in Cincinnati has shaped neighborhood dynamics in other neighborhoods across the city.
