About
Tiffany Yip, PhD is a psychology professor at Fordham University. She received her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, earned her MA and PhD at New York University, and completed a NIMH- and NSF-funded postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.Dr. Yip is an associate editor for Child Development, and a fellow of the American Psychological Association, Divisions 7 and 45. She was a former associate editor for Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and the Asian American Journal of Psychology. Her research is funded by NICHD, NIMHD, NIMH, and NSF.
Current Work
Dr. Yip's research focuses on the development of ethnic/racial minority adolescents and young adults. Her research includes how youth form an identity in the context of peers and families, as well as discrimination.Her newest research focuses on sleep disparities among adolescents and young adults, and how discrimination might account for disparities. This research also explores the mental and physical health, and academic consequences of discrimination and sleep disparities. Using a combination of daily diary, experience sampling, and longitudinal survey methods, Dr. Yip's lab also integrates biopsychosocial approaches including biomarkers of sleep, inflammation, and stress.
