About
Michelle joined Santiago Canyon College in 2022 having most recently served as Associate Professor and Associate Dean in the Attallah College of Educational Studies at Chapman University. She earned a Ph.D. and MA in Education at UC Santa Barbara, California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Sciences from Cal Poly Pomona, and BA in Religious Studies from UC San Diego.
Current Work
Michelle conducts research, publishes, and speaks on the relationship among space, belonging, and community. She currently is drawing upon insights from the fields of design and architecture to identify key design principles and elements of built environments that promote belonging in educational, workplace, healthcare, and community settings. She also is the founding Co-Director of the Collaborate Initiative and principal investigator of the Architecture of Belonging project.
