Current Work
Dr. Johnson's work aims to understand and address the factors that inhibit success for underserved and vulnerable student populations. For instance, over the past 5 years he has examined how experience in the foster care system influences the academic and social outcomes of youth. Empirical findings and conceptual advances from his body of work on youth in foster care will be featured in a sole authored book for Teachers College Press’ Multicultural Education series titled "Family Matters: The college-going experiences of youth in foster care".
