About
Dr. Marie is an assistant professor at Bellarmine University. She teaches courses in anthropology and courses related to Africa and the African diaspora. She is a first generation college student and hopes to help others who are also first gen students. She is passionate about experiential learning through international education. She is also passionate about work related to student of Color on college campuses, immigration, and identity.
Current Work
Dr. Marie’s scholarship focuses on identity and immigration with a particular focus on the experiences of African immigrants in the United States, EST international education, and students of Color in higher education. More specifically, her work theoretically and empirically explores race, gender, ethnicity, and identity intersections within social and educational constructs in Africa and the African Diaspora. Her most recent project explores the experiences of Ghanaian-Americans and how they experiences in the U.S. has shaped their identities and how they navigate public and private spaces.
