Current Work
In 2013, Dr. Peña’s research agenda pivoted toward highlighting the needs, interests, and experiences of college students with disabilities, in general, and students with autism, in particular. Her articles and book chapters have contributed knowledge that equips both researchers and higher education practitioners alike to support equitable inclusion and opportunities for students with disabilities. Dr. Peña is currently working on an edited book with ten autistic chapter authors. The book will underscore the narratives of individuals who fought for access to alternative communication and inclusion in general education.
