Current Work
Dr. Hara's book manuscript, “Why Teach? Love, Justice, and Safety in Public Education” explores the experiences of student teachers and their professional identity formation as they transition to full-time professional practice. This project uses portraiture as a means of examining the shifting nature of teacher work, the ongoing influence of accountability discourses, and issues of equity, justice, and safety in American schools. Dr. Hara's work has also been published in the Peabody Journal of Educational, Policy Futures, and Education and Urban Society, among other publications.
