About
Dr. Michael R. Sladek is a postdoctoral research fellow and secondary lecturer of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He works with Dr. Adriana Umaña-Taylor on a mixed-methods project focused on contextual factors that shape adolescents' ethnic-racial identity development, including qualitative and daily diary approaches. Mike earned his MA and PhD in developmental psychology from Arizona State University and his BA in psychology from Northwestern University.
Current Work
In order to support adolescents in the developmental processes of exploring and better understanding what their ethnic heritage and/or racial group membership means to them (i.e., ethnic-racial identity development), Dr. Umaña-Taylor designed the Identity Project curriculum. Currently, our work together focuses on how program effects may vary based on context (e.g., family and school factors) and equipping teachers as effective facilitators of the program in their classrooms.
