Current Work
Dr. Myoung-Jin Kim successfully developed three programs of research: scholarship of teaching and learning in statistics education, statistical consulting, and statistics in business/sports. In acknowledgement of the high levels of anxiety and negative attitudes toward statistics exhibited by nursing students, scholarship of teaching and learning in statistics education has become his main program of research to help students better learn statistical materials. Statistical consulting assists faculty members and students as they carry out their research projects. Lastly, Dr. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in business, and consequently is interested in the application of statistics in business and sports. As an applied statistician he has a broad range of research interests, but his three programs of research are unified by the goal of facilitating the wide application of rigorous statistical methodology in order to contribute to the advance of disciplines.
