Lucal teaches sociology and women's & gender studies, with a focus on first-year studies, at Indiana University South Bend. She is a former deputy editor for Gender & Society and currently edits the gender & sexuality section of Sociology Compass. Lucal has been working in the area of scholarship of teaching and learning for three decades and is the recipient of multiple campus, university, and national teaching awards.
