About
Dr. Auris is currently an associate professor of ESL (English as a Second Language) at Montgomery County Community College, where she has been teaching since 2002. She first got interested in working with second language (L2) students as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon in central Africa. She earned her master's degree from Ohio University in 1996 and completed her doctorate at Immaculata University in 2017. She has taught overseas in Gabon, Sao Tome e Principe and South Africa.
Current Work
Dr. Auris' current research is focusing on three key areas: the transfer of learning that L2 students make as they negotiate the requirements of college-level research classes, the recognition and creation of identity and academic voice in composition, as well as access, success, and persistence issues of the L2 population.
