Dr. Diane Sabenacio Nititham is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and Sociology and serves as the sociology program director. She has a PhD in sociology, an MA with distinction in social and cultural foundations in education, and a BA in communication. In 2017, she received the Murray State Emerging Scholar Award for her scholarship. She regularly teaches Race and Ethnicity, Sociology of Migration, Globalization, Sociology of Education, and Popular Culture.
Current Work
Dr. Nititham's research interests include belonging, diaspora, and globalization. Her book, Making Home in Diasporic Communities: Transnational Belonging Amongst Filipina Migrants (2017) focused on the experiences of Filipino communities in Ireland. Currently, she works with the Radio Preservation Task Force, a project of the Library of Congress's National Recording Preservation Board. The project localizes documents and preserves audio materials from Filipino communities throughout the US.
