About
Before beginning undergraduate studies at Grinnell College, I had lived in two successive small communities that were located in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. Then there were 6 years of medical school for an MS (physiology and pharmacology) and an MD followed by 4 years of clinical residency. I retired in 2016 at the end of a 41-year career as a med-ped primary physician in Omaha, Nebraska.
Another physician and I opened a small-group, private practice clinic in 1975 that variously encompassed 2-4 full-time physicians. Still together, we eventually closed the clinic, still located then at nearly the same location. During the last ten years of my active career, I began a steadily expanding avocation to study the paradigm paralysis of our nation's population health and its healthcare. This analysis eventually 'fueled' the publication of a book and a preliminary 'Design Epistemology' for the reconfiguration configuration of our nation's Population Health and its Primary Healthcare.

Current Work
Beginning in 1963, I began 10 years of medical education, a 2-year military obligation, and a 41-year career as a family doctor. With a growing level of curiosity, I began to newly explore old ways of thinking about the lifelong HEALTH needs of each person and their family. This curiosity about each person's family and their HEALTH has dominated my career since retirement in 2016.By 2021, I had written a book that any professional person could read and learn about the problems of our nation's POPULATION HEALTH and its HEALTHCARE. This healthcare costs too much and has too many problems with its predictable quality, e.g., maternal health. The high cost and isolated quality problems affecting each person's HEALTH are not resolvable with a "Penicillin Antibiotic" style of therapy. However, there are old, ignored, and untried ways of improving the HEALTH of each person's family within each of a nation's communities. We lack only a commitment to do so, "ALTOGETHER" !
