About
Evan N. Shenkin's work focuses on land sovereignty struggles of Indigenous peoples in the eastern lowlands of the Bolivian Amazon. Dr. Shenkin's research efforts have been to better understand the contradictions between economic models of growth in relation to ecological imperatives. Dr. Shenkin has taught courses on international environmental issues, cross-cultural communication, and indigenous peoples.
Current Work
Dr. Shenkin is working with Indigenous peoples in eastern Bolivia to improve land rights in their territories and support sustainable job opportunities in rural areas that do not involve cutting down the forest.
