Current Work
Dr. Melton-Fant's scholarship explores how public policy produces and can help eliminate racial health inequities with a particular focus on state and local government policy. Her current research examines 1) state preemption as a mechanism of structural racism that aids in the production of racial health inequities and 2) the heterogenous effects of local government expenditures on mortality across racial groups.
