Current Work
U.S. society is very much structured by a false belief in discrete racial categories, that is monoracialism. However, there are vast and diverse populations of postsecondary students who do not fit into these reductionist categories of difference. Using critical poststructural approaches to narrative, Dr. Mohajeri's work uplifts the stories and experiences of those who are racially con,ed on a day-to-day basis in various educational settings and practices. In particular, her work advances an articulation of con,ed whiteness and investigates the role of racial discourse in upholding white supremacy. In addition to research conducted along these lines in two regions of the United Sta,EST Dr. Mohajeri has a longitudinal study focusing on the evolution of racial identity for con,ed white adults after completion of postsecondary education. Some newer research investigates how DNA ancestry ,ing contributes to the rebiologization of race and further upholds monoracism.
