Dr. Dora Clayton-Jones, PhD, RN, CPNP-PC is an assistant professor at Marquette University in the College of Nursing and an adjunct faculty member at the Medical College of Wisconsin. As a community engaged scholar, her program of research is aimed at advancing health equity for adolescents and young adults living with sickle cell disease by working with stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate culturally appropriate interventions to improve health outcomes.
Current Work
Dr. Clayton-Jones leads a multidisciplinary research team to understand how young adults manage their sickle cell disease during the critical transition to adult care and life. Working with the community, they are developing comprehensive interventions that will optimize self-management behaviors and improve the readiness of young adults to move from pediatric centric to adult centric care and adult life. She is currently the president of the International Association of Sickle Cell Nurses and Professional Associates (IASCNAPA) and working on a collaborative sickle cell curriculum project.
