About
I was born and raised in New York City but traveled extensively. As an African American, I was brought to have an exposure to and interest in power - both exercised and pursued - from an early age. I was not exposed to academy until attending college however. My mother was a modern dancer and later painter whereas my other biological parent was a graphic designer. The result of this has been a broad interest in my topic of interest as well as an appreciation for both social science as well as the humanities.
Current Work
I study diverse forms of political conflict and violence throughout the world. I attempt to understand why such conflicts occur, why they escalate and how they are terminated. My approach is somewhat broad in that I attempt to understand both those who allegedly hold power as well as those who either don't hold power and are content with this situation or don't hold power and are trying to acquire it. To study this topic I draw upon both qualitative as well as quantitative methods of data collection.
