Dr. Dueñas is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and the program coordinator for the College Student Personnel (CSP) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Dueñas is originally from Pasadena, California, and her scholarship address issues of equity and access in higher education, with a particular focus on Latina/o/x college students' experiences. In her research practice, she uses both holistic frameworks and critical theory to share stories and explain systemic inequities that marginalized communities face as they persist through higher education. Dueñas has published qualitative and quantitative articles in the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Journal of College Student Development, and Journal of Latinos and Education. She is also an active member of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
Current Work
Dr. Duenas' scholarship focuses on access, equity, and student success in higher education, particularly on Latine/Hispanic students. She has published articles in journals articles such as the Journal of College Student Development and the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education.
