About
Dr. Totton is a first-generation and queer scholar. She earned her PhD in experimental psychology from Ohio University in 2020. Dr. Totton is an Associate Professor at Oberlin College.
Dr. Totton is passionate about undergraduate instruction and mentorship. She has published an article chapter on best approaches to teaching Introduction to psychology, and is the co-author of a book on best teaching practices in Social Psychology.
Her research focuses on prejudice and discrimination from an intersectional lens. Specifically, the majority of her research examines the impact and drivers of anti-transgender attitudes.

Dr. Totton works from a lens of intersectionality in much of her research, highlighting the importance of race, sexual orientation, and gender identity in the experiences of prejudice or discrimination.
