Dr. Abdelnabi is a Certified Nurse Midwife and holds a PhD in Nursing. Her research focus and interest includes infertility research, reproductive and sexual health education, and decision making in the Muslim population. Her dissertation focused on the Lived Experiences of Muslim American Women with Infertility. Currently, she is shifting gears to complete a needs assessment study. Dr. Abdelnabi plans on completing interviews with Muslim women to determine their needs as well as best way to disseminate reproductive and sexual health education in youth and young adults. Dr. Abdelnabi has worked with nursing, Midwifery, Family Nurse Practitioner, and medical students. She was an OB clinical instructor for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. She also served as adjunct faculty teaching women’s health for Family Nurse Practitioner students.
Current Work
As a nurse scientist and nurse midwife, Dr. Abdelnabi’s research focuses on improving overall health and wellbeing in Muslim women. Dr. Abdelnabi has two primary focus areas of research. One focus area is creating a social platform on reproductive and sexual health education in racial, ethnic, and marginalized groups to improve knowledge in reproductive health. The second focus is on promoting or enhancing psychosocial well-being in Muslim women experiencing infertility by creating and developing an interventional program that uses Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM).
