Current Work
I am a social epidemiologist and community-engaged researcher who uses quantitative and qualitative approaches to advance equity in chronic pain care and research. My long-term career goal is to develop a model for integrating community-engaged approaches within the context of chronic pain research to inform tailored care strategies and, ultimately, reduce inequities in treatment outcomes. To accomplish this goal, my program of work has three specific objectives: (1) Develop permanent infrastructure to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion within chronic pain research and establish sustainable community partnerships; (2) Characterize the impact of social risk factors on inequities in chronic pain, mental health, and related outcomes; and (3) Prioritize the perspectives of representatives from under-resourced communities to co-create and adapt evidence-based therapies for chronic pain and poor mental health outcomes.
