About
Kathy Luo is a dance artist based in Fresno, California. She works as an Assistant Professor of Dance at California State University, Fresno, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration in immersive theater and site-specific dance settings. As a dedicated dancer and researcher, she has attended numerous conferences such as the American College Dance Association Conference (ACDA), National Dance Education Organization Conference (NDEO), Las Vegas Dance in the Desert Festival, L.A. Feedback Film Festival, Utah Dance Film Festival, Arizona Dance Festival, and Southeast Theatre Conference (SETC). Additionally, Kathy has been selected as a performing artist for the 2023 Mark DeGarmo Dance’s Transcultural and Trans-disciplinary Salon Performance in New York City. She has also been selected for the 2024 Keshet Makers Space Experience Artist Residency program in Albuquerque, NM.
Current Work
Kathy's scholarship in dance explores the cross-disciplinary conversation in immersive theater and site-specific dance, specifically focusing on addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion issues in the performing arts field. As a dance educator, she brings her specialty in Asian Diaspora Dance studies to higher education institutions to initiate a wider range of dance scholarship.
