Dr. Paige Haber-Curran is Professor in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education, and School Psychology at Texas State University, where she is also the Program Coordinator for the Student Affairs in Higher Education master's program and an Honorary Professor of International Studies. She is also a Fulbright Scholar (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Austria, 2018). Dr. Haber-Curran earned her PhD in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, MA in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland, and bachelor's degrees in Business Management and German Studies from the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on leadership development, gender and leadership, emotional intelligence, and teaching pedagogy.
Current Work
Dr. Haber-Curran's scholarship primarily focuses on leadership development, and much of her scholarly work is on gender and leadership. Through a critical, gender-expansive, and intersectional lens, Dr. Haber-Curran challenges traditional and limiting understandings of leadership that continue to impact individuals, organizations, and broader systems and society. Through her scholarship Dr. Haber-Curran aims to empower individuals of all genders, inform practice at organizational levels, and interrogate systems of privilege and oppression that impact individuals of all genders in regard to leadership. Along with Dr. Dan Tillapaugh, she is currently editing a special issue on Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education entitled "Advancing Critical Scholarly Discourse on Gender and Leadership in Higher Education". Additionally, she has publications in press focused on women's counter-narratives of leadership and genderwashing in higher education.
