Current Work
Broadly speaking, my scholarship takes a critical look at social work education with an aim toward improvement and innovation. My research focus throughout my doctoral studies was specifically centered around anti-racism and assessment in social work education. Recently, I was the principal investigator on a study examining if/how MSW students incorporate anti-racism when they “engage diversity and difference in practice” (a former competency established by the Council on Social Work Education [CSWE]). My hope is to help inform the necessary evolution of social work education curriculum and pedagogy associated with the new CSWE competency “engage anti-racism diversity, equity, and inclusion in practice”. My research focus has served as the cornerstone for the unique Master of Social Work that I am currently crafting, which will prepare students for excellence in liberatory social work praxis.
