Current Work
My scholarship, notably through my project titled "De-Leaded," delves into the exploration of leadership diversity within educational settings, with a particular focus on the representation and advancement of Black male educators in urban school systems. At its core, "De-Leaded" seeks to understand why, despite the increasing diversity of student populations, the leadership in schools doesn't adequately reflect this diversity, especially in terms of Black male leaders. De-Leaded uses a mix of research methods to examine the systemic barriers that contribute to this underrepresentation. It looks into how societal perceptions, institutional policies, and specific practices within the hiring and promotion processes in schools and educational systems either hinder or help the advancement of Black male educators into leadership roles.
