About
Dr. Tracy Pascua Dea is the Academic Climate Program Director in the Office for Faculty Equity and Welfare and former Chief Diversity Officer and Executive Director of Student Services at Berkeley Journalism. Her higher education experience, research and teaching focus on the lived experiences of first generation and historically marginalized populations, strengths-based institutional change, and the power of narratives for social change. She holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration and BA in Psychology from Saint Louis University, and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. She is also certified Organizational and Relationship Systems (ORSC) and Gallup-Certified Strengths coach. Her experience as a first-generation student and her families’ immigration journey from the Philippines fuels her passion for transformative change and social justice in higher education.
Current Work
Her higher education experience, research and teaching focus on the lived experiences of first generation and historically marginalized populations, strengths-based institutional change, and the power of narratives for social change. Upcoming projects include a mult-campus collaboration focused on fostering healthy academic climates and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging through climate survey assessments and toolkit intervention.
