Ashley Michelle Fowler is the Administrative Program Manager in the Patricia S. Levinson Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion for the Mount Sinai Health System. She is also a PhD student in Education and Leadership at Pacific University (Oregon) studying ways undergraduate medical education can promote higher self-efficacy for Black male trainees toward higher retention and graduation rates. Ashley Michelle's proudest roles, though, are in relation to the ones she loves as partner, sister, friend, and aunt. Her professional and research interests include liberation and justice movements; activism strategies; indigenous ways of knowing and healing; mindfulness; health and healthcare inequities; medical ethics; higher education and student affairs; college student development; career development theory and coaching practice; best practices in teaching and learning; leveraging joy for healing; and intergenerational impacts of trauma.
Current Work
I am seeking ways to improve the medical school experience for Black male medical students.
