Current Work
My research focuses on how students from rural communities and high schools access college, succeed, and persist to earn their degrees. I’m particularly interested in the unique challenges and strengths of rural students, especially rural Students of Color, as they navigate higher education. Current projects include turning my dissertation on the experiences of rural Black men in college into a book and writing articles to help educators and researchers better support rural students. I’m also collaborating on projects that explore the experiences of rural students more broadly and presenting this work at conferences. Through my research, I aim to advance understanding and create pathways for rural students to thrive in higher education, ensuring their voices and experiences are recognized and supported.
