Dr. James Buszkiewicz is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. As a social epidemiologist, he uses epidemiologic and econometric methods to understand how policy can address key social, economic, and structural determinants of health, focusing on improving health equity.
Current Work
Dr. Buszkiewicz's research has examined an array of topic related to the study of social, economic, structural determinants of health including associations between minimum wage increases and health and mental well-being, the built environment and body weight trajectories, COVID-19 and inflation on food insecurity, federal and state tobacco control policies and adolescent and adult cigarette, e-cigarette, and cigar use, and occupational segregation and cardiometabolic disease risk.
